Arsenal need another top quality central defender. If anyone was left with any doubts about that, then the Gunners handing over a 3-0 lead to Anderlecht, a club whose record in the Champions League is nothing short of abysmal, should have removed any lingering doubts.
And if there is any way that Arsene Wenger can get one over on Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea boss who recently called the Frenchman a specialist in failure, then I am sure the Arsenal boss would not be averse to taking it. The report reveals that the Stamford Bridge club are looking to sign the talented young German defender Antonio Rudiger from the Bundesliga club Stuttgart. And the club have all but declared that they would not stand in the way if a big club came in for their star.
The really good news, though, is that Rudiger himself has declared his love for Arsenal and his dream to play for us. Now that seems like an opportunity that is too good to pass up.
The 21-year old said, “”I have always dreamed of the Premier League.
“I have been following Arsenal since the days of Henry and Bergkamp. I watch videos of Arsenal all the time on YouTube and I often wear the current Alexis Sanchez shirt.
“My heart beats for Arsenal.”
And even though you may not have heard of him, Rudiger is a real talent. He has already played for three years at the top level in Germany and been called up to the senior Germany national team. So will Wenger make his move in January?
