If Arsene Wenger was looking for any help as to whether he should step up Arsenal’s transfer interest if the Real Madrid star Sami Khedira, last night’s unbelievable demolition of the host nation Brazil by Germany, in the most one-sided World Cup semi-final ever, should have made his mind up.
Some football pundits have suggested that signing Khedira would have an added bonus, as well as Arsenal getting a top quality central midfielder, who at 25-years old is just approaching his peak years, the fact that Khedira is a close friend and international team mate of our German star Mesut Ozil, would help to bring the best out of him.
That theory got a massive thumbs up last night, as the two worked brilliantly together. Ozil was actually outdone by Khedira in the Germany team, as he missed a great chance while the Real Madrid man took his and put in an amazing and eye-catching display of pace, power, passing and penetration.
But Ozil, in his usual languid style, was like the oil in an efficient German machine. Khedira may not be an out and out defensive midfielder, but recent transfer windows suggest that Arsene Wenger is not really looking for one of those anyway. His performance last night showed that he would be a fantastic addition to the Arsenal team. Now go get him Arsene!
