Chelsea boss refuses to rule out transfer swoop for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez

With the football press this week being full of Arsenal transfer rumours about our Chile international star Alexis Sanchez, linking the striker with a shock move to our Premier League rivals, Arsene Wenger was quick to declare that Sanchez would not be sold by Arsenal, even if it meant him running down his current contract and walking away from the Gunners for nothing at the end of next season.

Antonio Conte, the manager of the EPL club being linked with the transfer of our forward was always going to be asked about the rumours as well, and although he did not fan the flames by talking about Alexis, he did nothing to dampen the rumours.

The Italian coach could just have denied it but instead he just said he did not want to talk about it, so his comments reported by The Mirror could be taken to mean that Chelsea really are after our player.

He said, “I don’t think it’s right to talk about players of other teams. Now we are totally focused on the next game”

I do not think that Wenger will be too impressed with his rival boss from Stamford Bridge but at the same time I am confident that he will not entertain any transfer moves for such a key player when the winter transfer window opens in January.

But I am not so sure about Wenger’s determination not to sell holding in the summer if Sanchez does decide to reject the offer of a new contract. Do you think he will sign and if not, will Arsenal really keep him until he goes for nothing?
