Inter set to make first offer for Balogun

Italian side Inter Milan are set to make a first offer of €40 million for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners man had a prolific season out on loan last season at Ligue 1, where he ended up scoring an impressive 21 goals, ending the campaign as one of the top scorers in the league.

The USMNT striker has already rejected the idea of another loan move and wants to be an integral part of a team this season. Whether it will be Arsenal or some other club is still a mystery.

With Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah already ahead of him in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, a move away from the club won’t surprise anyone.

Inter had Romelu Lukaku at the top of their wish list, but dropped their interest completely, after it came to their knowledge that the Belgian was simultaneously negotiating with arch-rivals Juventus.

Making a move for the 22-year-old makes sense on so many levels. Balogun is just 22 and has the best years of his career ahead of him. Plus, he has already proven that he can perform at the top level.

The report further stated that the North London outfit are holding out for a fee in the region of £50 million.

With the number of clubs that have shown interest in the Hale End graduate, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Gunners getting their asking price.

If Arsenal do really let him go, they should certainly put a buy-back clause or a heavy sell=on value. Failure to do both can come back to haunt them, as Balogun seems like a player who is destined to reach the top of the game.
