Two Arsenal stars for sale to fund stunning transfer move?

You might not think much to one of the latest Arsenal transfer rumours that claims to have news from Italy that Arsene Wenger is looking at an audacious double transfer swoop on Serie A in January. The players involved are both attackers and most pundits and fans are expecting the arsenal boss to be looking at a defender and a central midfielder.

But Wenger has surprised us before, like signing Kim Kallstrom last January, and a Metro report claims that the French boss is planning to fund the signing of striker Mattia Destro from Roma and creative midfielder Marek Hamsik from Palermo with the sales of our German international Lukas Podolski and the young Costa Rican forward Joel Campbell.

Arsenal to take advantage of Roma woes with BARGAIN transfer?

It is not the transfer that most of the Arsenal fans are hoping for. In fact it is not even in one of the two positions that most of us see as the priorities for strengthening in the January transfer window, central defence and central midfield.

But Arsene Wenger may be tempted to take advantage of the Serie A club Roma and their situation to pick up the Italy international star Mattie Destro for a bargain price when the transfer window opens in January. Roma were knocked out of the Champions League last night and the money lost from that as well as their desire not to sell Kevin Strootman to Man United have led them to offer to sell their talented young striker to us.

Italian star’s agent `on his way` to sort £20m transfer to Arsenal in January!

The possibility of Arsenal completing this transfer in January could still rest on matters outside of our control, as his current Serie A club Roma face a home game against Man City in the Champions League on Wednesday. If the Italian club qualifies for the next round, they may be unwilling to part with any of their players in the coming transfer window.

Roma’s European situation might not have anything to do with it either, but one thing that does seem certain is that there is a good chance that their striker Mattia Destro is keen on a move to the Premier League and Arsenal are interested in signing him.

£20m GOAL MACHINE welcomes January Arsenal transfer talk

Although Arsenal seem to have a couple of other transfer priorities than to strengthen the forward line in January, it does not mean that Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal scouting team will not still be looking at striking options for the January.

And with it looking increasingly likely that either Lukas Podolski, Joel Campbell or both will be looking to leave the Emirates in January in order to get more game time, maybe the Gunners will need to sign another striker when the winter window opens.
