Arsenal´s DM transfer hunt finally over?

When it was clear that Arsenal were not going to beat our Premier League rivals Man United to the transfer of Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton, despite a mountain of Arsenal transfer rumours over the last two years linking us with the Frenchman and recent reports suggesting that the player himself would have preferred to join the Gunners than the Red Devils, it did not necessarily mean the end of our hopes that Arsene Wenger would sign a top quality central midfielder this summer.

In fact, even with the brilliant second half of the season put in by Francis Coquelin and the new contract handed to the Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta, there was a growing theory that the boss had turned his transfer sights on the talented young Portugal international William Carvalho.

But now, as reported by Metro, it really does look like Arsenal will have to make do with what we have, as Carvalho has picked up an injury that will keep him out of action for about three months and the chances of Wenger forking out around £25 million for him now are slimmer than a cigarette paper.

BANG! Arsenal miss out on brilliant DM transfer

I do hope that the reason for Arsenal not completing the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton, after the French international was apparently on the wish list of Arsene Wenger for over a year now, was because the prof decided that the Saint was not really what the Gunners need anymore.

That could be true and if so it will be because of the breakthrough and fabulous form showed by Francis Coquelin in the second half of the season. Maybe Wenger now thinks that we have a brilliant defensively minded player now and has changed his focus to a different kind of player.

Whatever the reason, it looks like Schneiderlin will soon be signing for our Premier League rivals Man United, as a report in The Mirror reveals. The transfer will cost the Old Trafford club around £24 million and I think will p[rove to be a major signing for them.

I just hope that Arsenal do not look back with regret, once again, on another player that slipped out of our grasp. Do you think we will?

Arsenal lose ANOTHER transfer target to Man United

After the news in the football media this week that the long term Arsenal transfer target Morgan Schneiderlin was close to joining our Premier League rivals Manchester United instead, Arsenal fans will be gutted if Louis van Gaal were to beat Arsene Wenger to yet another quality player.

But that is what is about to happen according to a Metro report. The player in question is the Napoli and Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain and the report claims that he has already agreed the personal terms of his possible move to Old Trafford.

Not only would this make two signing lost to Man United, it would be the second time that the Gunners have missed out on Higuain after we were said to be on the verge of getting him from Real Madrid until the Serie A club stepped in with a better offer.

Is it not about time that Arsenal started winning the occasional transfer tussle?

Arsenal to break records AGAIN with these 4 MEGA transfers!

Over the last couple of summer transfer windows, Arsene Wenger has broken spending records with his signings and it looks like that is just what will happen again this year. The Frenchman is apparently planning to beat last summer´s splashing of the cash by spending the best part of £100 million to bring in the four players he believes will turn the Gunners from also rans into Premier League champions.

The report in Metro that details the manager’s plans explains that Arsenal are looking to sign Jackson Martinez from Porto to boost our firepower and give the boss a different option again to Giroud and Walcott.

Wenger is also looking to bring in a keeper, most likely Petr Cech, to help us to tighten up at the back, while the engine room of the team is going to get a double boost, with both Arturo Vidal and Morgan Schneiderlin being targetd. All in all these four players are likely to cost around £85 million, a new Arsenal record.

It is still dwarfed by the £150 million being handed to Louis van Gaal by Man United but will it be enough for us to win the Premier League?

TOP target WANTS Arsenal transfer and CONFIRMS talks

If this is all true then Arsenal should soon have one of the main transfer targets of the summer sewn up nice and early and us fans can start to relax and look forward to a promising summer in the transfer window and a real crack at the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners have long been linked with the France international midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and according to a Metro report the player himself has all but told us that the transfer is one the brink of being done.

The midfielder revealed that he was ready to leave Southampton for a Premier League club that is in the Champions League so it does not take a great leap of imagination to guess that Arsenal are that team. The report also reveals that Schneiderlin has said that talks over his summer transfer have already begun so will we soon be welcoming the 25-year old to the Gunners family?

Wenger hints at new DM for Arsenal

Arsenal Boss Very Happy with Coquelin, But Still Looking For Another DM!

Ahead of the game against Sunderland, the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has come out to heap praise on midfielder Francis Coquelin in regards to his performances this season and has assured that Coquelin will continue to be a big part of his future plans, but also maintained that he is still in search of a solid defensive midfielder to lift some of the weight off the Frenchman’s shoulders.

As reported by The Guardian, Wenger had this to about his compatriot’s meteoric rise at the Emirates: “The world has changed. he appreciation today of the quality of a player is just down to the money you spend. If we had bought Coquelin at Christmas for £40m, everyone would say, ‘What a signing.’ I am sorry he didn’t cost any money. He is still a good player.”

On being asked if Coquelin’s performances have changed his transfer plans, Le Prof added: “It hasn’t changed a lot. What is for sure is Coquelin has shown he has the capacity to play for us and play a big part in the success of the team. I think nobody would dispute that his performances have been convincing and that he is ready for a fight – even if somebody comes in. Even if somebody else comes in, he will stay here. I extended his contract [in February]. That means I believe in him.”

Looking at his performances since being recalled from Charlton, I’m sure all the fans believe in him as well. However, what is more satisfying is that the club are still on the lookout for a defensive midfielder. Let’s face it, both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are past it and the team really needs more depth in that position in order to challenge Chelsea for the title next season.

Also, there will be instances where Wenger might have to play two defensive midfielders on the pitch, for example, when the side is playing away at one of the big teams. When you look at the big teams, they all seem to have two out-and-out defensive midfielders at their disposal, and I really hope Arsenal can bring in support for Le Coq in the form of Morgan Schneiderlin or Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Southampton star CONFIRMS Arsenal transfer rumours!!

After signing the versatile Calum Chambers from them in the last summer transfer window, it appears that Arsenal will be going back to take another Southampton player when the current season draws to a close.

It might not be the player you think though, as the man who plays alongside the heavily linked central midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has told the press that it is him, Victor Wanyama, that Arsene Wenger wants to sign this summer, as reported by Metro.

The Kenya international star said, “Wenger has been talking about me.

“He has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer.

“Arsenal are a great club and I’d love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic.

“But we’ve had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe.

“Then we’ll see where I end up in the summer.”

The Gunners were linked with the powerful midfielder before, when he was in Scotland with Celtic, but the feeling was that the boss was unsure how he would adapt to the step up in class. He has now proved himself in the Premier League, so is Wanyama set to get his dream transfer to Arsenal?

Will this DOUBLE transfer turn Arsenal into CHAMPIONS

Many Arsenal fans as well as Arsene Wenger and the players, are still hoping that the Gunners can keep winning and take advantage of Chelsea’s dip in form to win the Premier League title this season. But it would be a minor miracle for Jose Mourinho’s team to lose three and draw one of their remaining eight games when they have only lost twice all season so far.

But our performances in the second half of the season have proved that Arsenal do have the quality to challenge the very best, especially with a few key transfer additions from Arsene Wenger in the summer. One former player and current TV pundit Charlie Nicholas believes that just two signings would give the Gunners the ammunition to be next years’s champions of England, as a Metro report reveals.

The two players are the two France internationals Morgand Schneiderlin of Southampton and Raphael Varane of Real Madrid. THe Saints man may well be coming to Arsenal this summer but getting the French defender from Madrid would be a lot harder. Assuming Wenger could pull it off though, would these two be enough to complete the Arsenal squad.

£50m transfer plans not enough for Arsenal

The Arsenal board and Arsene Wenger may not like it but in the real world that is top level football today, players cost a ridiculous amount of money. So if the Gunners are really serious about challenging the likes of Chelsea and Man City for the Premier League as well as having a proper crack at the Champions League, then we have to get serious with the spending.

That is why the news reported by the Daily Mail today that Wenger is planning a £50 million summer transfer swoop for three players does not exactly get me jumping up and down. Man United paid more than that for one player last summer.

Di Maria may be having a mare but in general the old saying of you get what you pay for tends to apply. Arsenal can afford more than that, so come on silent Stan, stop being so tight and miserly and give Wenger the sort of money that will really make waves.

I like the idea of signing Cech, Subotic and Schneiderlin but think Arsenal need to do more to close the gap. Am I right?

Arsenal HAVE signed ANOTHER defensive midfielder

With the young product of the Arsenal academy Francis Coquelin surprising all of us, except Arsene Wenger apparently, by showing that he has got what it takes to star for Arsenal in central midfield and provide the work rate, energy and tough tackling that you need to thrive in the Premier League, we all wondered whether that was it for Arsenal in that position.

And when Wenger also brought in the 17-year old Polish prospect Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw, said to have the potential to become a player like our former captain Patrick Vieira, it seemed that the Gunners had the deep lying central midfield role sewed up for years to come.

But it has now been revealed in a Metro report that our manager has completed another deal as well, by already signing up the club captain Mikel Arteta for another year. The Spaniard’s contract was due to expire at the end of this season but the boss clearly wants him to stay on.

Arteta has not managed many games for us this season due to injury problems, but Wenger still thinks he has a lot to give, possibly by imparting his experience and reading of the game as much as by doing it on the pitch. So is that the end of the Schneiderlin and Carvalho Arsenal transfer rumours?
