Wenger vows that Arsenal will prove critics wrong today!!

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to be in a confident mood ahead of his Arsenal side’s top of the table clash against Liverpool at the Emirates stadium. The match against the Reds kicks off a massively important week for the Gunners which includes away trips to Manchester United and Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the French manager acknowledged the importance of the upcoming week and maintained that he has full confidence in his team to do well in the challenging run of fixtures.

Vermaelen – Arsenal are not worried about Tottenham, only ourselves

The Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelen is very happy that Arsenal are back into the automatic qualifying place for the Champions League group stages, but he insists that the Gunners are not worrying about how Tottenham are getting on in their games, but just looking at their own

“We know that being in the Champions League is very important to the team, the club, and we know that finishing third gives you straight qualification for the group stage.” Vermaelen said.

“Finish fourth and you have to play a qualifier.

Vermaelen – Arsenal are confident, now we need to be consistent

The Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelen is obviously not happy that the Gunners have been knocked out of the Champions League, but he is very confident that they have the quality and confidence to make sure they are back in the competition again next season.

He said: “It’s really important because Arsenal is a team that belongs in the Champions League,”

“We will try to achieve that in the next games and get into the top four. At the moment, after the way we played in the first half against Milan, I am really confident.

Van Der Vaart – Arsenal ended our title hopes, but I’m sure we will still finish third

The Tottenham star Rafael Van Der Vaart saw his team destroyed by Arsenal on Sunday and has admitted that the Gunners have all but finished any remaining hope that Spurs could have overtaken Manchester City in the title race.

But he thinks that their seven point cushion will be more than enough to stop any of the chasing pack, including Arsenal, from overtaking them in the race for third.

Van Der Vaart said after the 5-2 defeat: “Of course you always have hope that we can win the title but Man City are winning their games so easily and, especially now that we’ve lost, maybe the title is over,”

Jermain Defoe – You can’t write off Arsenal but I’m confident of Spurs win

The Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is well aware that anything can happen in a high pressure North London derby despite Arsenal’s recent run of poor form, but with Spurs supreme confidence this season he is confident that his team can do the double over Arsenal.

“It means more to Arsenal than us. Obviously because of the way things have gone for them this season.

“I think it’s been a lot of ups and downs, where at the beginning they didn’t start too well, then they picked it up and then they’ve had a little blip again.

Wenger: This week decides our season – And I’m confident!

Arsene Wenger believes that his Arsenal side is better equiped to contest three different competitions in the space of a week than last years team, as they will have learnt from the disappointments and are more mature this time around.

He is of course well aware of how important the next seven days are for the club. He said: “We go into a period that will decide our season,”

“I think it is that important because in one week we play three games in three different competitions.

“In every single competition we are, of course, in a position where we want to win our games.
