Arsenal starting XI for must win Champions League match

Arsenal have a number of reasons for needing to win the Champions League game against Dinamo Zagreb this evening, with a little bit of revenge for the defeat in Croatia probably more important to the Arsenal fans that to our manager.

But Arsene Wenger knows that the Gunners need to win to have any hope of staying in the Champions League past the group stage or even of having Europa League games on Thursdays and he has said that he would take Europe´s second club competition very seriously if we were to drop into it, so I expect a strong Arsenal line up to take to the Emirates pitch tonight.

Arsenal fans accuse Wenger of THROWING Champions League

If Arsene Wenger was fully committed to Arsenal doing as well as possible and going as far as possible in the Champions League, you would think that the Frenchman would pick his strongest possible team for every game in the group stage. And that definitely means Cech, not Ospina.

But just because the boss has chosen to rotate his squad for the first two games, does that really mean that he is not at all interested in the competition, other than the annual money it brings in? Well some Arsenal fans seem to think so, as a Metro report shows some of the things posted by Gooners on social media.

Have Arsenal won transfer battle with BIGGER bid for `new Xavi`?

One of the latest transfer rumours claims that Arsenal have already had one offer turned down by the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb for their talented young midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. If the 22-year old really is good enough a player to deserve his nickname of the Croatian Xavi then I can easily understand why Zagreb are reluctant to let him go.

The fact that Brozovic also has a long term contract with the club, lasting until the summer of 2019 means that they are under no pressure to let him leave, but now the Metro have reported that the Gunners have increased their offer and that the transfer now looks like going ahead.

Underwhelming Arsenal transfer rumour no. 27 – Tin Jedvaj

Arsenal are today being linked with a defender, which is nice to see for a change from the usual persisting rumours of strikers Higuain and Rooney. The club desperately need to add to their defence as well as their attack, but I’m sure the centre back being linked with us, definitely isn’t the player on everyone’s lips.

According to the London Evening Standard, Arsene Wenger is keeping his eye on Dinamo Zagreb defender Tin Jedvaj, as he looks to strengthen his defensive options at the club. The problem is Jedvaj is just 17 years old! Typical isn’t it? Every transfer period Wenger makes sure he buys at least one upcoming star and although this is a recent rumour, unheard of anywhere else, I really wouldn’t be surprised if Le Prof really does have his eye on the young Croatian.
