Podolski confirms There’s No Deal With Arsenal

The Arsenal target Lukas Podolski has also confirmed Wenger’s statements that there has been no deal made between the Gunners and the German striker yet.

The German newspapers have been going crazy this week saying that Koln’s striker has already accepted a deal on personal terms with the Gunners, but according to both the striker and Wenger a deal is a long way from being struck.

“Contrary to the reports of the past few days, nothing has been decided yet,” Podolski told German Sky Sports.
“If there is something to report, I’ll let you know.”

Germany legend says Arsenal are taking a risk on Podolski

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamman declared that Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger is gunning for the wrong striker and that Podolski’s fee is outrageous for a striker who only proved he has any skill at all when he was playing for small clubs.

According to the former Germany international, Podolski can only prove his skills when he’s the most important player in a team and that the striker proved that during his time at Bayern Munich. Hamman seems to think that it’s outrageous for Wenger to pay that much for this kind of player.

Schalke Threaten To Hijack Arsenal’s Deal For Podolski

Even though Arsenal’s move for Koln’s Lukas Podolski was proving to be a sure summer hit, Arsene Wenger might still encounter big problems now that Bundesliga giants Schalke 04 are also highly interested in snatching the German international.

Podolski declared earlier this year in numerous occasions that he’s unsatisfied with the current situation at the German club and that he’s interested in leaving in the summer. The striker also slipped two tips for Wenger to pick up, saying that he wants to move to a Champions League playing side and that if he is to transfer abroad he’d like to go to Arsenal.

Arsenal Get Closer To Signing Podolski As Koln Replace Him

Arsenal are rumoured to be very close on signing Koln’s German striker Lukas Podolski as the Bundesliga side just secured themselves the services of 27-year-old striker Tae-Se Jong.

As Koln is not known for their investments, it’s highly likely that Jong is only there to replace Podolski who has been intensely linked with a transfer to Arsenal ever since the summer transfer window closed.

“We have monitored 20 players and Tae-Se Jong is definitely what we are after,” Cologne’s general manager Volker Finke told BILD.

“The manager (Stale Solbakken) made the decision on what type of striker he was looking for.

Podolski Clears The Air On Arsenal Transfer

Koln striker Lukas Podolski who was intensely watched by Arsenal and Schalke and is expected to make a move in January has spoken about the possibility to leave the German side in January.

“I am just enjoying my football and I want to be successful and score goals, and if in the end everything is right, then we are all happy, even Hennes the goat (the club’s mascot),” he told Sky television.

“I still have one-and-a-half years on my contract and if I decide in one-and-a-half years, then so be it.

German star announces willingness to an Arsenal transfer

Arsenal’s interest in Koln’s striker Lukas Podolski might be paying off in January is Arsene Wenger will decide to submit a bid which could motivate both the player and the club to encourage the switch.

“I will talk to Cologne before anybody else and see what they have to say,” Podolski told ZDF television.

“Of course I am getting plenty of offers and I expect more of them to arrive to me, to my agent or to my club in the coming weeks.”

“But I repeat, I must first talk to Cologne.”

Wenger is told to keep his hands off Podolski

According to reports in Germany, Arsenal’s interest in Koln’s German striker Lukas Podolski could be in vain considering that club’s officials have declared that they are not willing to let Podolski go regardless of the transfer fee they are being offered.

This could be understandable considering the fact that Podolski is the key man at Koln and that he scored an amazing number of 11 goals in 15 played games for the club so far this season. Koln’s sporting director Volker Finke spoke about interest coming from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow for Podolski:
